This is an official release version of FreeBSD 11.0 and it is available for download. BSD refers to Berkeley Software Distribution and this FreeBSD 11.0 is a Unix Platform, with some advanced features of the operating system that can be installed in servers, Desktops, Laptops and Embedded platforms. It is a free Open source and this version of FreeBSD was released in October 2016, and now it is the most largely used open source BSD operating system and it is licensed under permissive BSD license.
This FreeBSD 11.0 has been released with new features are:
• This release comes with a new architecture support, toolchain enhancements, performance improvements, and also support for the wireless chipset with better security enhancements.
• It is a representation of the hard work done by the members of the FreeBSD community.
After a bit discussion about the FreeBSD 11.0 features, Here we are going to discuss the Installation steps:
Download the latest version of FreeBSD 11.0 and create a bootable DVD/USB and boot the system. Here we will see the installer menu then click on the 1 or Enter. Installation starts automatically.
After that, we need to do the partition to our hard disk to install the FreeBSD. You can either proceed with the default option as Auto (UFS) or manual partition method.
Here am going with the automatic partition, so I selected very first option i.e. Auto (UFS): Guided Setup.
