We all know that, recently VMware has announced the new release of VMware vSphere 6.5 and vCenter 6.5. Here I am going to take a look on the latest features of VMware vSphere 6.5 and also vCenter 6.5.
VMware has introduced the entire new vCenter server 6.5 and with the launch of vSphere 6.5.
This new vSphere 6.5 has many similar enhancements and many new features that make a simplified management of your virtualized environment.
VMware has vCenter server applications to the next level and some of its new features and many more performances and with improvements. vCenter server application is completely designed with a modern installation process and which is user-friendly. Now vCenter server supports the installer on multiple platforms which runs on windows server only now, the user can use on Linux and Mac also.
New features in vCenter 6.5:
•Backups and restorations
•vSphere web clients
•vSphere server high availabilities
•Improves Appliance management
Now let us have a look on each feature:
Migrations: VMware has released a new migration tool with the release of vSphere 6.2. This migration tool will help us in the current tool from vCenter 5.5 and vCenter 6.0 to the new vCenter6.5. Now you can upgrade your vCenter 6.5 appliance. With the help of this migration tool, you can also migrate the data like configurations, Events, Tasks, and Performances.
Backups and restorations:
vSphere 6.5 comes along with the backup and restoration for the vSphere appliance. This new backup and restoration will allow users to backup vCenter server appliance and platform. These service appliances are directly from VAMI or API. With this backup and restoration, the user can also backup the VUM and can auto-deploy the embedded appliance. This Backup and restoration supports the server appliances with the embedded and external platform service controllers and can also easily store the VCenter server appliance ISO.
vSphere web clients:
vSphere web client is based on HTML5. vSphere web Client is a flash based which will work on the browser but it compatible with the Adobe flash and also requires the client integration plug-in with the vCenter 6.5 and it eliminates the dependency of plug-ins.
There are some improvements in web client they are:
•Can refresh power states live, tasks and much more
•Default view is Inventory Tree
•Related objects are eliminated
•Configure tab is implemented instead of Managed tab
VSphere server high availabilities:
vCenter server always has a high availability solution for your vCenter server and with this new release of vSphere 6.5. VMware announces the Native High Availability solutions for the VCenter appliance only and not for the windows based vCenter server.
Now we will see the quick view of the Native High Availability:
Native High Availability consists of three nodes those are Active, Passive, Witness nodes, and configurations.
Improves Appliance management:
vCenter server appliance 6.5 has an independent feature of its improved appliance management. This VCenter appliance management is more user-friendly with UI and it provides the additional health.
In vSphere 6.5 Release there are big improvements to vSphere HA and DRS:
VMware vSphere 6.5 releases the High Availability i.e, HA and the Distributed Resource Scheduler i.e, DRS and with them a collection of independents vSphere hosts and it starts to look and act like a real cluster. If the host fails, HA will make sure that VMs run on the hosts in the cluster. If host starts to load the point of VM that privileges are not met and this DRS will move to the VMs around to make sure that they get the resources that they demand and consume. These are the complex technologies that we can take for granted even for today but upon that release it is revolutionary.
Here we found several improvements to HA and DRS in vSphere 6.5 are:
•HA admission control
•HA orchestrated restart
•DRS new policies
•DRS network aware
Conclusion: this is all about the VMware announced and the latest versions of VMware vSphere 6.5 and vCenter 6.5 features. this version is going to be a part of Cloud computing.
